Most powerful supercharged cars
Top 40 most powerful cars with supercharged engines. Updated January 2021.
Supercharger is intake compressor driven by crankshaft. Unlike turbos, it does not need high exhaust flow to generate intake pressure, and does not suffer from delay in engine response, known as "turbo lag".
The trade-off is mechanical friction and increased fuel consumption.
For supercars and muscle cars fuel consumption is not a priority which is why we still see supercharged engines used in cars today.
It is possible to combine both supercharger and turbocharger in single engine. These "twin-charged" engines share some of the benefits of both systems.
