Fastest station wagons
Top 38 fastest estate cars. Updated April 2025.
"Station wagons", "estate cars" (term used mostly in United Kingdom) or simply "wagons" are 4 door saloon cars with roof extended all the way to the rear for unified passenger and luggage space and vertically opening rear door.
They are more practical than sedans due to significantly larger luggage capacity, ease of loading and ability to fold down rear seats to carry extra large items.
Luggage capacity is similar to SUVs, but wagons are typically not intended for off-road use, as they are nearly identical to sedans in every way, apart from the rear bodywork. This makes station wagons considerably faster than taller and heavier SUVs.
Audi and Mercedes are known to make their high performance cars (RS series and AMG C and E class) in wagon versions. These cars are mostly sold in Europe and there are hardly any high performance station wagons made by American or Japanese manufacturers.
