Most powerful inline 6 cylinder cars

Top 40 most powerful inline 6 cylinder cars ever made. Updated January 2026.

Inline 6 cylinder engine used to be common in 20st century. This engine layout is known for its good balance and smoothness, as well as obvious ability to yield more power than smaller inline 4 cylinder.

Due to the length of inline 6 engine block and resulting requirements on space, these engines have fallen out of favor, and almost all manufacturers have migrated to using the V6 configuration.

The last popular automaker to stick with inline 6 engines is BMW, who, unsurprisingly, occupy almost all positions in this list.
