Motorcycles with highest top speed

Top 40 fastest bikes in the world. Updated June 2021.

Travelling at very high speeds on a motorcycle is highly dangerous and there are few roads where this can be done legally and with any margin of safety.

Due to the risks involved, manufacturers have not been keen on advertising sports bikes on top speed basis. In fact, the race for highest top speed has stagnated over the past decades, and we have not got much further than we were in early 2000s when Suzuki Hayabusa came out.

Motorcycle top speed is also limited by engine size and power. High speed requires very high horsepower to overcome wind resistance and, compared to cars, bikes simply do not have the space and weight budget for that kind of engine.
